Drag the ScanTastic™XT icon into the folder where Quark Xpress® is located.
Launch Quark Xpress.
The first time that Xpress is launched with ScanTastic™XT installed, you will see the standard file dialog asking you to locate the ScanTastic™ps plug-in.
Locate the ScanTastic™ps plug-in file and click the Open button.
Xpress will continue to load.
You should see ScanTastic™XT appear in the Macintosh menu bar.
If for some reason you need to relocate ScanTastic™XT, you can use the
‘Find ScanTastic™ps’ command in the ScanTastic™XT menu to repeat the first step.
Using ScanTastic™XT:
Draw a frame where you want the image to be placed using any of the Picture Box tools that Xpress provides.
ScanTastic™ps will be dimmed if you do not have a picture box for the image to fill.
Make sure the Edit tool is active when attempting to access ScanTastic™ps.
Choose ScanTastic™ps from the ScanTastic™XT menu.
You are immediately presented with the standard Macintosh file saving dialog.
Type in a name for the image and choose the destination folder, then press the Save button. (All images scanned by the ScanTastic™XT are saved in a standard TIFF file format.)
A progress indicator will appear. When the scan is completed, Xpress will take a few moments to import the image.
Keep in mind that since the image is in TIFF format, the preview shown to you by Xpress is governed by the settings you have made in the Preferences dialog. Normally, this will be a low resolution version of the image you have scanned but will print at the full resolution.
